Military Releases 1,009 Ex-Boko Haram Fighters To Borno Government

The ex-terrorists, who were among those responsible for the deaths of innocent Nigerians, were released on Wednesday.

At least 1,009 former Boko Haram militants have been handed over to the Borno state administration.

Ex-terrorists were among those responsible for the deaths of innocent Nigerians.

They were made public on July 14th. The ex-terrorists had been detained by the military at Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

According to Punch, the former terrorists were turned over to the Borno State Government in a covert ceremony that was originally scheduled for a later date but was postponed indefinitely by military authorities following the inauguration of the new COAS.

The ex-terrorists were turned over to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, who represented the state government at the event, according to army sources.

According to Punch, the official stated, “Today, the army turned over 1,009 Boko Haram insurgents to the Nigerian government (Wednesday).

It was done behind closed doors. Journalists were not to be allowed into the venue, according to our instructions.”
