Maduka’s friend Matthew (Biggy), who was overcome with emotion as he remembered special moments with the late student, described how Maduka completed his Pre-degree programme at DELSU several years ago, adding that the deceased was a First Class student in the Department of Economics with a CGPA of 4.7.
“How is this possible? His mother’s birthday is today, according to the calendar. “Who will tell his mother this terrible news now?” he bemoaned.
The body of Maduka was still stuck under the vehicle at the time of filing this article, with police officers, vigilantes, members of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and sympathisers frantically attempting to raise the truck off the ground and potentially save any other victims trapped.
Other victims could still be stuck under the trailer and the cement that fell off the truck during the horrific incident, according to some reports.
According to OM, the vehicle’s conductor was beaten mercilessly by furious passers-by before being handed over to the authorities.
At the time of publication, the driver’s whereabouts were unknown.
