Edo State’s newly inaugurated governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has wasted no time in making critical appointments to shape his administration. In a move signaling the start of his governance, Okpebholo announced several high-profile nominations just hours after assuming office.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary, Okpebholo appointed Barrister Musa Ikhilor as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). This strategic appointment follows the earlier announcement of Fred Itua as the Chief Press Secretary, setting the tone for Okpebholo’s administration.

Among the key nominations, Dr. Samson Osagie, a former federal lawmaker, has been tapped for the role of Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. Meanwhile, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, the son of ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole, has been nominated for the crucial position of Health Commissioner. The elder Oshiomhole, a sitting Senator representing Edo North, is widely recognized for his pivotal role in securing Okpebholo’s election victory.

Ejes Gist News understands that the appointments are expected to bring a mix of experience and political clout to the new administration. The nominations for both Osagie and Oshiomhole will soon be submitted to the Edo State House of Assembly for approval, as the governor aims to kickstart his agenda with a strong team.
