Ortom Asks Buhari To Declare Miyetti Allah As Terrorists.
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be bold and declare three other armed herders groups in the country as terrorists.
He, on the other hand, praised President Buhari’s administration for responding to his call by designating bandits wreaking havoc on Nigerians as terrorists.
This was stated in a statement signed by Nathaniel Ikyur, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), and made available to the Makurdi-based Daily Independent on Thursday.
Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and the Fulani Nationality Movement are among the groups Governor Ortom advised President Buhari to label as terrorists (FUNAM).
While Ortom acknowledged that labeling the bandits as terrorists was “insufficient,” he urged the president to “be bold enough to go a step further and declare Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, MACBAN, and FUNAM as terrorist organizations, just as the government has done to other groups.”

“The step taken by the Federal Government now will go a long way toward containing the atrocities of the criminals and giving citizens the opportunity to go about their legitimate businesses unmolested,” he insisted.
“Even though the Federal Government’s anti-bandit measures appear to be effective now, the security challenges will only be adequately addressed if a similar tough stance is taken against Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, MACBAN, and FUNAM, who have vowed and continued to cause mayhem in Benue State and other parts of the country as a result of anti-grazing laws.”
“The law has become permanent in Benue State.” It can’t be undone now. Indeed, we have maintained that Benue State lacks any grazing routes, reserves, or areas. It was passed in the best interests of the state’s peace and order. It was done, among other things, to put an end to the state’s long-running farmer-herder conflict.”
On the ailing economy, Governor Ortom urged President Buhari to do everything in his power to revive the economy and lift the country’s citizens out of poverty, noting that Nigerians have already suffered enough hunger and misery at the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its misrule.
He questioned whether the president was aware that Nigerians were dying as a result of the APC’s misrule, but he also dismissed the president’s labeling of the PDP as a failure.
“As a key stakeholder in the PDP, this is completely false,” he said. If anyone has failed in taking Nigeria from top to bottom, it is the Buhari-led APC Federal Government.
“The PDP is ready to rescue Nigeria from the APC’s insecurity and economic horror,” he said, adding that the party is better prepared with laudable programs for Nigerians’ welfare and to rebuild the country from the APC’s woes.
Governor Ortom claims that the APC administration has run out of ideas and has nothing else to say to Nigerians.
