Orlu Imo Bombing latest update
Following ongoing military action in parts of the Orlu Senatorial District of Imo State, the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, insisted that his administration would not yield to pressure from those calling for the withdrawal of soldiers from the crisis-ridden region.
The governor reported that he had invited soldiers in Orlu to restore peace in the region after representatives of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had killed many policemen and innocent civilians in the area.
Uzodimma, who provided the explanation through the State Attorney General and the Justice Commissioner, Barr. Cyprain Akaolisa, at a press conference in Owerri, said that the narrative that innocent people were killed by the army was meant to divert focus away from the contemptible activities of the IPOB in Orlu.
According to the governor, the government has discovered that there have been deliberate attempts by the IPOB to target the citizens of Orlu and the government in the guise of pursuing Fulani herdsmen.
These attacks, he said, began last year during the #Endsars protests.
Uzodimma said, “The attacks on police stations and the killing of policemen during the #Endsars were carried out by IPOB and not by protesting against youth for the sole purpose of kidnapping and stealing weapons.

“They are now using their weapons to kill Orlu citizens.
“Ten policemen were killed, a famous Orlu soon, Ignatius Obiezu and one Emmanuel Okeke (Soludo) collected their Hilux vehicles.
“The IPOB also shot and killed four Muslims doing business in Orlu.
“IPOB said they were searching for herdsmen, but the victims they killed before the crisis were herdsmen?
“We learned that Nnamdi Kanu praised the activities of his men in Orlu that they were doing well by killing innocent people. There are no Fulani herdsmen in Orlu.
“So, we asked ourselves, what is the coloring that IPOB is trying to offer to this assault in Orlu?
“That’s why our government has agreed to call on the army to root out the IPOB and their so-called ESN.
“We found out that there was a camp set up by IPOB in Umutanze, Orlu, and we sent the police to dislodge them. But it happened that they attacked the police and killed two of them. It was after those policemen were killed that the government had to call in the army.
“It wasn’t easy for the army to drive them out of that position. But the army was successful. That’s why they went on a reprisal assault and killed innocent people.
“They have moved to Udah in Orsu LGA, a camp on the border between the states of Imo and Anambra. The place is a very sad groove that no one can reach easily.
“For the past two weeks, surveillance has been tracking the site and more than 200 people have been trained in the camp. The army had to deploy its arsenal to reduce the number of IPOB citizens there.”
The governor expressed his surprise that people would call for the withdrawal of soldiers from Orlu.
“We can’t do it. We can’t fold our arms to prevent these boys murdering people every day.
