In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed that a life had been lost in the attack and that the injured worshippers had been transported to a medical facility.

‘The security agencies are obtaining additional information, which the government will make available to the public as soon as it becomes available,’ he said.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who expressed his sadness over the incident, described it as an “evil act” that targeted innocent citizens who were exercising their constitutional and universal rights to religious freedom.

The Governor went on to say that the attack on the worshippers was part of a divisive strategy by the criminals, who took advantage of religious sensitivity.

El-Rufai expressed his condolences to the ECWA Church and, in particular, to the family of the deceased, and he prayed for the repose of the soul of the worshipper.

After receiving further reports on the incident, the Governor has directed the Kaduna State State Emergency Management Agency to assess the situation and provide assistance to the victims who are receiving medical attention at the moment.
