One Killed While Trying To Steal Transformer Cables

On Saturday, the police command in Abia confirmed that a suspect who tried to steal transformer cables in the state’s Amoji-Ukwu Village, Obingwa Local Government Area, had been electrocuted.

The suspected burglar was electrocuted early on Friday while severing two cables connected to a transformer, according to SP , the command’s public relations officer.

In an interview with a journalist on Saturday in Aba, Ogbonna confirmed the statement.

Chinenye Agomuo, an Amoji-Ukwu Village resident, claimed that a man cut cables leading to a transformer on Friday, which led to an explosion in the neighbourhood.

We heard an explosion early on Friday morning, possibly coming from a transformer.

“After the explosion, my brother, who lives close to the transformer, started calling me and asking me to go to the scene.

He stated that a person attempted to climb a transformer but was electrocuted.

“There was a young man there when we got there.

Agomuo said, “Unfortunately for him, the current killed him. He had climbed up to cut the armoured cables.

According to him, the incident was reported to the Eastern Ngwa Police Station by the locals.

According to Agomuo, the police assisted in transferring the suspect’s body to a mortuary.
