Following the collapse of a school building in Ogun State, the death of a student has been confirmed.
Muinat Ilebiyi, a student at Nazareth High School in Imeko, Ogun State, died after the structure she was in collapsed on her and two other girls sustain several degrees of injuries.
The incident was confirmed on Sunday by Hon. Samuel Sunday Ojoawo, a councillor from Imeko Ward.
Following the incident, the injured victims were transported to a hospital for treatment, and the deceased was buried on Thursday in accordance with Islamic customs.
During his speech, Hon Sunday pointed out that the current administration had already ordered that the building be demolished before it collapses.
In my opinion, the incident is extremely disheartening and pathetic. A total of three girls were involved in the incident, one of whom died and two of whom were injured.
One of the two victims suffered only minor injuries, while the other suffered moderate injuries. The other was taken to a local hospital for treatment. I went to see her, and she appears to be responding to the treatment. According to Ojaowo in a phone interview, “she is doing better.”
In Imeko-Afon Local Government, the new administration has begun to take the necessary steps to address the situation.
By the Executive Chairman’s directive, they will demolish the building. The new administration of our local government has taken the necessary steps to address the situation,” he continued.
