Olu of Warri Stool —Protesters rock the Streets of Warri, following the ongoing dispute surrounding the emergence of the Olu of Warri designate
Ejes Gist Nigeria reports that Youths from the Itsekiri kingdom in Delta state’s Warri South local government area have stormed the Nigerian Police Force’s Zone 5 headquarters in Benin, the state capital, demanding a peaceful withdrawal of the case from the police so they can resolve their conflict according to their terms.
Youths in large numbers, carrying placards with various inscriptions, gathered at the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 5 in Benin City to express their dissatisfaction with the turn of events after the last Olu of Warri passed away.
They are concerned that matters that have traditionally been settled peacefully according to customs dating back 400 centuries have been allowed to degenerate to the point where custodians of the law are still often called in by men of the police force for questioning.
DSP Tijani Momoh, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, addressed the protesting youths, assuring them of police cooperation in resolving whatever problems have led to conflicts between the warring groups.
Expectations are strong as the protesting Youths have agreed to take the bull by the horns with mediation as the tools for a peaceful resolution.
