The President of the Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos, Chief Solomon Aguene, explained that since the group was in favour of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State getting a second term, there was nothing wrong with supporting his (Sanwo-Olu) presidential candidate.
Ohanaeze’s decision, according to Aguene, was based on the need for Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos to benefit from the state’s democratic dividends.
“We are in Lagos; we enjoy Lagos more than any other tribe, and we have all agreed to vote for and support Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as the APC at the center,” he said.
“Our candidate for me and the Igbo people of Lagos is Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and once you have the governor of the state you so dearly love, you must also try to ensure that the same party emerges in Abuja, so that you can get whatever you want for your people in democracy, and that is what I am doing as President.”
“Whoever Sanwo-candidate Olu’s is, we will support him.” The choice was made because it affects our lives, our future, and everything we do. Ohanaeze Ndigbo consider Lagos State to be their second home.
“This is where we have the most investment and the most Igbo people in the world.” If we have a governor who cares about us, and if the other government (Tinubu) in Abuja is on our side, I believe life will be easier and better.
