Oh No! Residents Flee For Their Lives As Boko Haram Attacks Geidam

The lethal Boko Haram terror sect, has reportedly invaded Geidam, one of many largest cities in Yobe State.

The assault on Geidam has left the residents fleeing.

Geidam city, about 180 kilometres from Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, is the city the place the headquarter of the Geidam native authorities space is situated.

According to sources, the insurgents who had been believed to have taken place across the city at about 2pm on Wednesday, began capturing at about 6pm and acquired residents fleeing.

The sources, who couldn’t give the variety of casualties, stated many homes had been set ablaze as residents bumped into the bush.


They stated land troopers and air bombardment later got here to uproot the insurgents.

One source stated the city regained normalcy at about 8pm when the insurgents had been chased off by the army.

Meanwhile, Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai-Mala Buni has directed the State Emergency Management Agency to supply emergency help and take inventory of destructions from the Boko Haram assault in town.

Buni, whereas commiserating with the people of Geidam, described the assault as most unlucky.

He stated, “The attack came at a time when there is a general improvement in peace and security across the state.

“The general improvement in security and support provided by the government has given our people the opportunity to gradually resettle and reclaim their means of livelihood.”

He, nonetheless, stated the assault wouldn’t deter the federal government in its efforts to rebuild, reconstruct and rehabilitate communities initially destroyed by the insurgency.

He counseled the people of the state for his or her resilience and willpower to rebuild their lives and transfer ahead.

He assured that “the government and people of Yobe state would continue to partner with the security agencies for the full return of peace and security across the state.”

Meanwhile, SEMA officers have visited Geidam the place they took inventory of the destructions on personal and public properties.

SEMA Executive Secretary, Dr Mohammed Goje, stated the company had commenced stock-taking of the damages attributable to the assault.

He stated, “In line with the directives of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, l am leading the team to Geidam to assess the situation and see areas in need of immediate intervention to provide succour to the people.”
