# OccupyLekkiTollGate: Heavy police presence at #Lekkitollgate
In preparation for a possible protest rally at the venue, authorities in Lagos have begun deploying enhanced security near the Lekki Toll Gate of the city as of February 12.
In reaction to the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel to allow the toll gate to reopen after being closed when soldiers fired on protesters gathered there during a series of anti-police brutality demonstrations in October 2020, advocacy groups decided to demonstrate at the toll gate starting on 0700hours February 13; the action was to be.

The Lagos State Police has banned the expected rally from taking place and has warned that any activists gathering at the toll gate will be arrested. In addition, the authorities intend to close the main gate in the area of Lekki Phase 1 on Feb. 13 at 0500hours. Whether protest organisers intend to go forward with the action in violation of the police ban and threats of arrest remains unclear; however, if the demonstration takes place as scheduled, the risk for clashes will be elevated. Localized delays to transport are likely to occur near any protest activity that might materialise.
