Abdullahi Ummi, a known bandit, was killed in a gun battle in Katsina State, according to police.

This was revealed by SP. Gambo Isa, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), during a press conference in Katsina on Thursday.

He said that a 50-year-old bandit kidnapped an 80-year-old woman, Hajiya Hassana Zubairu of Katsina State’s Sandamu local government, and demanded N500 million in ransom from her children.

“Our soldiers jumped into action based on genuine intelligence information and pursued the offender into the forest, where he ran out of luck.

“While attempting to flee on a motorcycle with the kidnapped elderly woman, our officers and men were involved in a gun duel with the bandit, who was later killed,” the PPRO said.

He went on to say that the elderly woman was kidnapped on June 29 and freed by the police on July 15.
