Mr. , the immediate past managing director of Fidelity Bank Plc, has been appointed as the group managing director of FBN Holdings Plc (FBNHoldings).

The appointment of Okonkwo will take effect on January 1, 2022.

Mr. U.K. Eke, who had served for two terms, resigned as a result of his appointment.

On August 10, 2021, Uke, according to the board, submitted his Notice of Retirement.

The board also announced that Dr. Adesola Adeduntan and Mr. Gbenga Shobo’s appointments as managing director and deputy managing director of FirstBank, respectively, have been renewed for another term.

In the same vein, the Board announced that Mr. Kayode Akinkugbe and Mr. Taiwo Okeowo’s appointments as Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director of FBNQuest Merchant Bank Limited, respectively, have been renewed for another term.Nnamdi Okonkwo

“Uke’s retirement will begin on December 31, 2021, at the end of the current fiscal year. After a 35-year career in financial services, strategy, auditing, consulting, taxation, process reengineering, and capital market operations, Mr. Eke has decided to retire.

Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo , a focused and results-oriented top banker, will assume office as Group Managing Director, FBN Holdings Plc, effective January 1, 2022, according to Seye Kosoko, the Company Secretary.

Nnamdi Okonkwo, the former Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, brings to the FBNHoldings Board of Directors a banking career spanning more than 30 years and spanning both local and international experience. He has extensive experience in transformational leadership, business strategy and visioning, innovative corporate governance, and risk management.

He has led bank transformations, the most recent of which was at Fidelity Bank, where he led a management team to achieve remarkable results, including tripling profit and shareholder value in seven years.

Okonkwo previously worked for Fidelity Bank as the Executive Director for Southern Nigeria. In his roles as Managing Director of UBA Ghana, Director of UBA Liberia, and Director of the Ghana National Banking College, he has made a significant contribution on a global scale.

Broad Bank of Nigeria Ltd, Citizens International Bank, Nigeria, FSB International Bank Plc, Nigeria, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Nigeria, and Merchant Bank of Africa, Nigeria are among the financial institutions where he has held various leadership positions.

Okonkwo has a long list of accomplishments as a director, including UBA Ghana, UBA Liberia, Nigeria e- Strategy (Negst), Nigeria Interbank Settlement System Plc, Unified Payment System Ltd, and Chairman, Shareholders Audit Committee FMDQ, to name a few. His appointment must be approved by the appropriate regulatory bodies.

The board also approved Mrs. Tope Orhionsefe Omage’s appointment as a Non-Executive Director of First Bank of Nigeria Limited by the FirstBank Board, subject to CBN approval.

With effect from December 1, 2021, the Board also announced the appointment of Meristem Registrars Limited as the new Registrars to take over the Register of Members of FBN Holdings Plc in place of First Registrars and Investors Services Limited.
