Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB/ESN is behind the plot to destroy me.
Abba Kyari, an embattled police officer, has blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Eastern Security Network, ESN, for his woes.
According to a police report, Kyari made this remark while testifying before a panel investigating his alleged ties to disgraced fraudster Ramon Olorunwa Abass aka Hushpuppi.
Kyari claimed that IPOB and ESN were after him because of the onslaught launched against them in the South East, according to the report submitted to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, and then to the Police Service Commission (PSC).
DIG Joseph Egbunike was in charge of the Panel. “The officer did not deny violating the police’s social media (policy),” according to the report. “It is a campaign to smear his reputation by members of IPOB/ESN who moved to destroy him due to his onslaught against them in the South-East,” the officer (Kyari) said.
After reviewing Kyari’s statement, the panel determined that his claims were ‘watery,’ and recommended a ‘punishment’ of a rank reduction.
Last July, the Deputy Commissioner of Police was suspended after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) indicted him for his ties to Hushpuppi. Kyari’s younger brother received N235,120,000 from the disgraced fraudster, according to the report.
Attempts to contact PSC and Police Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi for comment on the matter were unsuccessful.
