The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has dispelled the rumour that Mazi Simon Ekpa had been selected as Interim Leader of Radio Biafra.
Misrepresentation of facts was labelled as planned and the work of detractors and opponents of the battle, and it urged members and the general public to ignore it.
IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, declared that no one has been nominated to succeed its leader, guaranteeing that he will be released soon to continue the liberation campaign.
According to the statement, Ekpa, an eminent son of Biafra, was only included among the presenters on the Radio Biafra platform on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s order.
“The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our indomitable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to affirm Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s direction that Mazi Simon Ekpa, an outstanding son of Biafra, be listed among the presenters on the Radio Biafra platform,” the statement says.
“We also want to refute the rumour that Mazi Simon Ekpa has been appointed as the Interim Leader of IPOB or to take over Radio Biafra. Detractors and opponents of our struggle are responsible for this purposeful falsification of facts.
“Mazi Simon Ekpa is just one of many Radio Biafra broadcasters whose enormous contributions to the struggle have been recognised.
No one has been nominated to take over from our leader since he will soon be out to continue the liberation campaign.”
“We want to emphasise that IPOB is a unified, formidable, and well-structured family, and that our movement’s operations run smoothly on a well-established framework even in the absence of our Leader.
“The Directorate of State (DOS) is totally in command of IPOB’s global affairs, therefore there is no vacuum in the day-to-day operations of this tremendous movement.
“We are aware that confusionists and opponents of our struggle are seeking for a chance to sow discontent and create a crisis in IPOB, especially now that our leader is detained, but their strategy is doomed to fail.
“As a result, we would want to urge the magnificent IPOB family around the world, as well as the broader public, to dismiss any contradictory information.
“It is also important to note that any material apparently originating from IPOB that does not travel via our normal channel of information dissemination should be ignored.”
