Nnamdi Kanu Arrested , To Face Trial In Nigeria Nnamdi Kanu live broadcast

The Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and nine others have been accredited by the Department of State Security Services, DSS, to cover the trial of , the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, in the terrorism and treasonable felony charges brought against him by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Federal , on July 26, 2021.

Premium Times, Thisday, The Nation, The Herald, Daily Post, Channels Television, Africa Independent Television, AIT, and Television Continental, TVC are among the other media houses accredited for the trial coverage with NTA.

The ban on media houses entering the courtroom is part of the security measures put in place by the Federal High Court in Abuja’s management and the DSS to keep the crowd at the court under control.

Various security agencies have put in place necessary security measures to prevent any possible breakdown of order or disruptive behaviour during the trial, according to sources.

 

It was also learned that the Security Operatives have resolved to block all roads leading to the Court, ostensibly learning from previous experiences, in order to hinder vehicular movement, while comprehensive checks of court staff and guests will be conducted.

The trial is expected to be presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, with Shuaib Labaran, a Senior Lawyer from the Federal Ministry of Justice, leading the ’s prosecution team.

 

In addition, some ten Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs, have been gathered by Kanu’s family and well-wishers to provide him with proper legal representation.
