Ejes Gist Newspaper reports that Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the IPOB’s primary attorney, reported on Monday that Nnamdi Kanu, the group’s detained leader, has been suffering from worsening health inside the Director of State Services, or DSS, detention facility.

After visiting Kanu at the DSS prison facility in Abuja, Ejiofor made this statement to reporters in Owerri.

What Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer said about his health?

He claimed that the DSS employees hindered his doctor Kanu’s attempts to handle his medical problems.

“The Court-Ordered routine visit to our indefatigable Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has just been concluded,” claims Ejiofor, speaking from the DSS Headquarters in Abuja, where Nnamdi Kanu has been kept in solitary confinement for more than 14 months.

“The highlight of today’s visit was reviewing other ongoing lawsuits filed against the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) for their egregious violations of international laws and treaties in their criminal kidnapping and extraordinary rendition of Nnamdi Kanu, as well as for the sanctions and reparations resulting from this act of state terrorism.

“The visit also gave us a chance to assess Nnamdi kanu’s general well-being and the degree to which the DSS was adhering to the court’s order in managing his medical condition.

How DSS has handled the court request- kanu’s Lawyer

“For the record, it is important to reiterate that the lawless DSS has repeatedly treated the existing Court Order—which specifically directed that Nnamdi kanu should be granted access to his doctor for an independent review/investigation of his current health status—with the utmost contempt and disdain. This comes after his potassium level continued to decline.

Unfortunately, the DSS seriously violates this court order while acting with impunity, as seen by their refusal to allow Nnamdi Kanu’s personal doctor to visit him in the DSS facility where he is now being held.

What Sickness Nnamdi Kanu is suffering from?

“As a result of continuous heartburn, Nnamdi Kanu is currently suffering from gastro intestinal illness, which necessitates the constant use of antacids and other available medical treatments.

Unfortunately, the DSS has refused to allow him have even the smallest amount of the prescribed painkiller, which could have given him short-term respite,” he stated.
