However, presidential spokesman Garba Shehu reported an attempted break-in at the home of Professor Ibrahim Gambari, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, refuting Ahmad’s claim that the media was spreading false news.

Following the events, Nigerians on Twitter chastised the two for making contradictory comments. Many people suspected Ahmad of still learning how to lie because he hasn’t perfected his skills.

Even though Shehu said the attempt failed, many people were shocked that such an attempt could be made so close to the seat of power.

Ejes Gist Nigeria, an online publication, had previously stated that Gambari and an administrative officer at the Presidency named Maikano had been robbed.

Armed robbers invaded Aso Rock and emptied the homes of Gambari and Maikano, according to the storey, which has been trending online.

Malam Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesman, responded in a statement on Monday night, saying, “The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has reported that there was a ‘foolish attempt’ to burgle his residence at 3:00 a.m. this morning, but it was unsuccessful.”

“Professor Gambari, whose house is on the same street as the Villa, has told me that the incident is not a cause for concern.”

Gambari succeeded Abba Kyari, who died in a Lagos hospital in April 2020 while being treated for coronavirus.
