Ani stated that on June 4, 2024, the commission received the final report from the Police Recruitment Board. Out of the total successful applicants, 9,000 were selected for General Duty roles, and 1,000 were chosen for the Specialists cadre.
Previously, the PSC had set up a Recruitment Board comprising representatives from the PSC, the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Federal Character Commission, Police Colleges, and the Police Trust Fund. Nigerian youths interested in joining the police force were invited to apply online through advertisements in various national media outlets. The application window was open for six weeks, from October 15, 2023, to November 26, 2023, in adherence to Federal Character requirements.
