1. According to Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, aspirants who oppose the consensus agreement reached ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention are free to run. Bagudu, who is also the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, said this after President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with governors was briefed by reporters.

2.APC Convention: Buhari, Governors agree on consensus for chairman, other positions

Governors elected on the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) platform have stated that they are working to produce consensus candidates ahead of the party’s national convention on March 26th. After meeting with Buhari on Wednesday, Atiku Bagudu, the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Kebbi State, said.

3. According to Daily Trust, seventy-five people kidnapped from Yar Katsina community in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State have been released by their captors. In the last two months, two major attacks on the community have resulted in the abduction of the freed residents.


4. Lanre Bankole, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, has revealed how a hunter, Saheed Ogundahun, killed a herdsman and buried the body on his farm in Ewekoro Local Government Area. Mr Bankole made the revelation while arraigning the suspect, along with 14 others, for kidnapping, robbery, and murder, at the State Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

5. Tunmise Abraham was sentenced to death by hanging by an Ado-Ekiti High Court on Wednesday for raping and killing his landlady, Bukola Olanrewaju. Abraham was found guilty of raping and killing his landlady sometime in 2019 in Olorunda Zone 7, Adebayo, Ado-Ekiti.

6. The Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, warned on Wednesday that its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is being tortured by the Department of State Services,  DSS, in Abuja. Since his alleged kidnapping from Kenya, IPOB has accused the DSS of abusing Mazi Kanu’s human rights, torturing him, and denying him access to his religious materials.

7. On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja set April 11 for the hearing of a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to declare former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara’s, seat vacant following his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

8. Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has issued a warning to indigenes and residents of the town protesting the appointment of a non-native as vice-chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The monarch also promised the institution’s workers and students that their lives and property would be safe.

9. On Wednesday evening, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) granted administrative bail to a former governor of Anambra State. Obiano’s “passport was seized by the anti-graft agency as part of his bail conditions,” according to a commission official who confirmed the development.

10. Nigeria is collapsing under the care of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, according to governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party’s platform. They claimed that life was better under the PDP administrations from 1999 to 2015 than it is now under the APC, and that Nigerians are suffering in all aspects of their lives.

11.  UK to supply Ukraine with 6,000 defensive missiles. 

According to a U.K. government press release on March 24, the missiles include anti-tank and high explosive weapons. The U.K. will also provide £25 million ($33 million) to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce the package at the NATO and G7 leaders’ meeting this week.

12.  Russian deputy ambassador to the UN: Russia retains right to use nuclear weapons if “provoked” by NATO. 

In an interview with Sky News, Dmitry Polyanskiy, one of Russia’s top diplomats in the United States, said that Putin could use nuclear weapons if the country feels it is facing an “existential” threat. Polyanskiy also denied that Russia is committing war crimes in Ukraine.
