1. Bandits attacked nine communities in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area, killing about fifty people and kidnapping an unknown number of others. According to ASP Mohammed Jalinge, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident, the command has yet to compile the exact number of deaths recorded during the invasion.

2. Professor Ali Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, has had his son rescued after he was kidnapped in Bauchi State. According to sources, the minister’s son was discovered on Friday at a checkpoint in Dambam, one of Bauchi State’s Local Government Areas.

3. Following his appearance in All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign posters, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been called to resign and be investigated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

4. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates eligible to run for governor of Osun State in the July 16 election. Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is on the list, as is Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

5. United States sanctions 6 Prominent Nigerians for supporting Boko Haram

The United States has designated a network of six individuals linked to Boko Haram, a Nigerian terrorist group. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury announced this in a statement on Friday.

6. In the Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State, a soldier was arrested for allegedly killing seven civilians, including a three-year-old girl. On Friday in Maiduguri, Col. Obinna Azuikpe, Intelligence Coordinator, Theatre Command of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), confirmed the arrest while reviewing the military’s operations in the North-East.

7. The Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Ganiyat Abass, who is accused of stealing a six-day-old baby and concealing her in a sack. Abass is accused of kidnapping Jemilat Musa, 23, of Agbele’s compound in Iwo, Osun.

8. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has petitioned the Federal High Court in Abuja to declare the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, which is set to take place on Saturday, unconstitutional and illegal. The PDP also requested that the APC be deregistered as a political party in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/389 2022, claiming that the APC had failed to meet the requirements of Sections 222(a), 223(b), and 225 of the 1999 Constitution.

9. A socialite, Ms Chidinma Ogbulu, was sentenced to 27 months in prison by a Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court in Oshodi for distributing petrol as a souvenir during a party. Following her guilty plea on Thursday and the prosecution’s evidence, Chief Magistrate Kehinde Ogundare convicted and sentenced the socialite.

10. Today, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its much-anticipated national convention, amid critical issues affecting the party’s soul. The convention, which comes after dilly-dallying by the party’s upper echelon, is expected to elect a new crop of National Working Committee (NWC) members to run the party’s affairs for a four-year period.


11. German military and humanitarian aid arrive in Ukraine. 

A shipment of 1,500 “Strela” anti-aircraft missiles and 100 MG3 machine guns from Germany arrived in Ukraine on March 25, according to the German Press Agency, citing the Ukrainian government. Additionally, 350,000 food packs, 50 medical transport vehicles, and medical supplies were delivered.
