In spite of the state’s limited resources, Buhari assured the Union that their demands would be satisfied.

On Saturday, during a speech to the nation to mark Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day, the president expressed his sadness over the disruption of academic activities in tertiary institutions.

He stated, “I must confess that I am deeply troubled by the ongoing disruption to our tertiary education system, and I am using this Independence Day celebration to reiterate my call for the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to return to the classroom while assuring them to address their conflicting issues within the confines of the limited resources available.
