Nigeria have been given the opportunity to rest players in their final group stage game, and as a result, they currently have a clean bill of health heading into their Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 match against Tunisia on Sunday.
Interim coach Augustine Eguavoen has stated that he intends to approach the game in the same manner as his team did in their opening victory over Egypt, so it appears reasonable to expect a lineup that is very similar to that of that game. Indeed, why try to fix something that isn’t broken in the first place?
Many aspects of this matchup suggest that Nigeria has drawn one of the worst possible opponents.
Despite the fact that Tunisia has not made much of a statement on its own, the fact that they have been drawn against some of the relative minnows in other groups is unfortunate.
These are the games, however, that the Super Eagles must win if they are to win the AFCON on Cameroonian soil this year.
Nigeria XI ( Predicted ):
Okoye, Aina, Omeruo, Ekong, Zaidu, Ndidi, Aribo, Iheanacho, Simon, Chukwueze, Awoniyi
Date and time: 8pm Sunday January 23, 2022.
Venue: Roumde Adija Stadium in Garoua.
TV channel : Nigeria vs Tunisia on DStv Channel 202, Gotv Channel 31
