“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public that the investigation into the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari by the FBI, which is being conducted by the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP), is still ongoing,” said CP Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer.

“Members of the public are reminded that the panel has not yet submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, as some news outlets and online platforms have incorrectly reported.”

A US court issued a warrant for Kyari’s arrest after an Instagram influencer, Abbas Ramon, also known as Hushpuppi, and four others, AbdulRahman Juma, Vincent Kelly Chibuzo (Kelly), Rukayat Motunrayo Fashola, and Bolatito Agbabiaka, were accused of committing a $1.1 million Internet fraud.

According to the FBI, Kyari detained Chibuzor for one month at Hushpuppi’s request in order for the latter and his co-conspirators to defraud their Qatari victim of over $1 million.

Kyari, on the other hand, has appeared in front of the panel on several occasions to defend himself against the allegations.

The Force reassured the public that the results of the probe panel’s investigations would be communicated to the public once they were completed.
