One million compatriots died to keep Nigeria together — Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari stated yesterday in Abuja that Nigeria has experienced all difficulties since January 15, 1966, which have resulted in the deaths of a million citizens in order to preserve the nation.

“We are Nigerians, God willing, we remain Nigerians, and Nigeria shall remain one,” he added, urging political leaders to remain committed to furthering the national interest.

Buhari noted that the zeal and passion for improving Nigerians’ quality of life, which culminated in the formation of the political party, had not diminished in his remarks when he hosted former state chairmen of the disbanded Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, at State House. He urged greater steadfastness on the part of Nigerians.
