President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is said to have paid N1.15 billion for 10 vehicles, which the Niger Republic has denied receiving.

Alkassoum Indatou, the Niger Republic’s minister of defence denied recieving the said 10 Vehicles.

He claims that only Zamfara State has provided the nation with five vehicles, largely due to the repeated efforts of Nigerien forces to protect Nigerian territory from terrorists.

The purchase of 10 vehicles for the Niger Republic was authorized by President Buhari, according to investigative journalist David Hundeyin.

The allocation of the funds used for the vehicle purchases was acknowledged by Minister of Finance Zainab Ahmed, who claimed that it was the president’s prerogative.

However, Indatou claimed that only Bello Matawalle, the governor of Zamfara State, had given five Hilux vans to the Maradi regional government in the Niger Republic.

Indatou, who spoke for the President of the Niger Republic in debunking reports of recieving the Nigerian presidency’s donation of the vehicles, said:

A top Nigerien official with knowledge of the situation translated the French statement to read, “It is only the State of Zamfara which has given five vehicles to the Maradi region, four of which have already been received, it is not the federal government as the Minister of Finance of Nigeria, Zainab Ahmed declared.

He continued, “The Zamfara population, who are on the Niger border, call more on the Nigerien soldiers who respond to the minute than even those of their own country.”
