I want to play for Spain, not Ghana – Nico Williams
The attacker for Athletic Bilbao, Nico Williams, has emphasized that he is more interested in playing for Spain than his native Ghana.
The 20-year-old added that he would still prefer Spain to Ghana, adding that I “wanted to be here.”
His brother, Inaki, had previously made a public commitment to play for the Black Stars and made his international debut against Brazil in a friendly match that Ghana defeated 3-0.
Williams reiterated his decision to forego Ghana in favour of the 2010 World Cup champions after making his debut for Spain in their 2-1 loss to Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League.
Williams declared, “I have been clear about my want to be here, and I am very grateful that Luis Enrique has provided me with this opportunity.
“I intend to benefit from it. Everyone is aware of my desire to play for the Spanish national team, improve, and establish my value.
