It was also learned that the missiles landed in the areas of Maiduguri city in Gwange, Bulabulin, Adam Kolo, and Molai, leaving many feared dead. Sources say that behind the Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, some of the Jihadist fighters also infiltrated the town and engaged security operatives.
According to the report, nine of the 10 dead were young boys hit by a bomb while playing football in the Gwange Ward.
The Governor of the State, Babagana Zulum, confirmed the attack and also visited some of the hospitals where the injured are receiving medical care.
We were informed that there were approximately 10 people killed and 60 injured. This is a new type of attack, totally different from the usual bombing of suicides. “It is worrisome and there is an urgent need to strategize to prevent further events,” said the governor.
Zulum expressed sadness at the incident and sympathised with the affected people. He also assured them that they would be provided with care by the government.
