According to the audio obtained by Ejes Gist News, APC leaders wished for the president’s death so that his vice president, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, could take over the reins of power.

The remarks were made during a meeting of high-profile party stakeholders, including Muhammadu Bindow, the immediate past Governor of Adamawa State, and Kabiru Mijinyawa, the incumbent member representing Yola south constituency in the state house of assembly.

If Mr Adamu had to choose between President Buhari and Yemi Osibanjo, he said he would choose Yemi Osibanjo.

“I’m not sure why Buhari was not killed by the coronavirus. If the president and Osinbajo are placed side by side, I will pick Osinbajo and leave Buhari,” the chairman was overheard in Fulfulde lamenting.

Abubakar Sirimbai agreed with Adamu, saying that it is better for the “accursed president” to die so that Mr Osinbajo can take over the reins of power.

“It is preferable for the cursed president to die so that his deputy can take over the presidency. To help the president win the election, we sold our properties. We purchased underwear, braziers, and cosmetics, which we applied to his face. May God not grant me the privilege of living until evening if I am opposed to Osinbajo becoming president.

“In the last six years, Buhari has accomplished nothing in Adamawa. In Adamawa, the APC thrives on Bindow’s legacies. We heard that whenever Buhari learned that someone had gone bankrupt, he was overjoyed. Mr Sirimbai stated, “We can’t worship him like others.”

In agreement with what others have said, Mr Mijinyawa, the former speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, added, “Osinbajo is our own.”

Yusha’u Adamu, who served as Mr Bindow’s adviser, and Abubakar Sirimbai, a former development area chairman, were also present at the meeting.

According to sources familiar with the situation, the meeting took place between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the home of Mustapha Barkindo-Mustapha, the former commissioner of local and chieftaincy affairs under the Bindow administration.
