MURIC replies CAN over Fake Bishops
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress, APC’s presidential candidate, had put off the announcement of Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate for several weeks due to the vocal opposition of many Nigerians, particularly the Christian organization, Christian Association of Nigeria, to his choice of a fellow Muslim.
However, Tinubu ignored the concerns and finally introduced Shettima to the public last Wednesday in Abuja with a side attraction that is still the topic of intense debate in the nation.

Many people attended the unveiling ceremony, including a sizable number of persons wearing what appeared to be the vestments of Bishops and Priests masquerading as clergymen whose identities were in doubt.
These priests entered the venue shortly after the program started wearing what may be characterized as coats of many colors.
Photos and videos show them arriving at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Center, but they declined to answer most of the reporters’ questioning.
One of them was even dressed in a Catholic priest’s cassock, which is something you can only see inside a church during Mass.

Nigerians’ reactions to the presence of these purported Christian clerics on social media were compared by the Christian organization to another Nollywood film.
The folks we witnessed at the unveiling of Shettima paraded as Bishops are people who did not have enough time to learn how to wear Bishop robes, claimed CAN in a statement signed by Rev. Joseph John Hayab, CAN Kaduna State Chairman and Vice President of CAN (19 Northern States and Abuja). You can see another Nollywood film in their photo if you look at it closely.

However, support for these clergymen who have been shunned by the Christian community came from an unexpected source. In response, a Muslim organization called Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) asserted that all of the Christian clergy present at the All Progressive Congress (APC) Vice Presidential candidate Kashim Shettima’s unveiling in Abuja on Wednesday were genuine.

In response to CAN’s statement disowning the Bishops, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the director of MURIC, accused the Christian leadership of avoiding reality and engaging in self-denial. Akintola claimed in a statement that despite CAN’s stance on the Muslim-Muslim ticket, many Christian Bishops attended Shettima’s unveiling.
According to the data, it is now crystal clear that CAN leaders have disconnected themselves from reality, the speaker remarked. How far may a religious organization go?
What is there for CAN to gain by misleading its supporters?
MURIC also provided a list of some of the priests who they said had actually attended the APC event.
Bishop Kamoru is a legitimate cleric from the Peace Chapel in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, according to Akintola.
“A picture of him officiating a wedding in a church has surfaced. Some members have come forward and claimed to have personally known him. Additionally running for governor of the APC is Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia of the Gboko Catholic Diocese in Benue State.

“Pastor Prince Ugokwe, who is a real pastor and not a fraud, also reaffirmed this. Because it disavowed sincere and knowledgeable bishops and pastors, CAN cannot be trusted.
The statement said, “This demonstrates that a caucus within the leadership of CAN has unleashed tyranny of the oligarchs on Christendom in Nigeria.
