Gunmen disrupt Labour Party meeting in Enugu, open Fire on party Members

The Labour Party meeting in Enugu State’s Awgu Local Government Area was reportedly attacked and disrupted by gunmen who are thought to be political thugs.

The hoodlums, who allegedly numbered 20, were armed with machetes and firearms.

It was discovered that the attack had injured no fewer than 17 people.

The incident took place in Awgu Town, Awgu LGA, Enugu State.

Several people were shot as the assailants opened fire on the unaware party goers, according to eyewitness accounts.

“They arrived at the meeting location in two buses, and as we prepared to adjourn, they began firing into the air.

According to a source who spoke to Ejes Gist Newspaper, “While those who had weapons were shooting into the air, others who had clubs and machetes came on us and wounded many individuals.”

One of the members was reported to have miraculously averted death when they shot at her car as she got inside to take a call.

As of the time this report was filed, it was unable to reach Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesman for the Enugu State police command.
