Memphis Depay, a forward for Barcelona, has changed his mind about leaving the team this summer.
Memphis Depay had ruled out any chance of leaving Barcelona in June.
A year after joining Barcelona, Depay is reportedly pushing to leave, according to the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
The former Manchester United star has acknowledged that his time at Camp Nou is up in light of the club’s aggressive hiring this summer.
After his contract with Lyon expired last summer, Depay moved to the Catalan club as a free agent. He went on to score 13 goals in 38 appearances for the Blaugrana this past season.
However, Barcelona has added five players, and two of them present Depay with more competition for a spot in Xavi’s starting XI.
Following his £42 million transfer from Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski is expected to be the focal point of Barcelona. Raphinha, a winger from Leeds United, has also joined the club in a deal worth up to £55 million.
After being forced to give Lewandowski the number nine jersey at Barcelona, speculation about Depay’s future has increased.
Memphis Depay is rumoured to be interested in joining Tottenham, Juventus, Newcastle, Lyon, and Paris Saint-Germain as Barcelona is eager to let some players go so they can sign their new additions despite their well-known financial problems.
Memphis Depay makes U-turn on leaving Barcelona
Meanwhile, Frank Leboeuf, a former Chelsea player, has apologised to Cristiano Ronaldo for the disrespectful and improper manner in which he left Old Trafford after their Sunday friendly match against Rayo Vallecano.
Ronaldo submitted a transfer request to the team last month, angered by the Red Devils’ failure to advance to the Champions League next.
At the halfway point of Sunday’s preseason match between Manchester United and Porto, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the Portugal international left Old Trafford, leaving his teammates on the field.
Leboeuf thinks the ex-Juventus and Real Madrid player erred in wanting to leave Old Trafford.
