Massive shake-up as Army moves over 100 Generals, Set To Secure Nigeria [ FULL LIST ]

The Nigerian Army has announced the redeployment and posting of over 100 senior officers, with orders to remain steadfastly committed to the country’s Constitution.

Brigadier-General Mohammed Yerima, Director of Army Public Relations, said the massive reorganisation was part of an effort to reposition the Nigerian Army (NA) for optimal performance, adding that all postings and appointments will take effect on March 10, 2021.

“The NA has released postings and appointments of some affected senior officers,” according to the statement. The posting, which was approved by Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is a routine aimed at re-energizing the system.”

Major General AS Maikobi from the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) has been appointed Commander of the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command; Major-General DC Onyemulu from the Armed Forces Simulation Centre has been appointed Commander of the Special Task Force (Operation SAFE HAVEN); Major-General SA Yaro from Nigerian Army Welfare Limited by Guarantee has been appointed Commander of the Nigerian Defense Forces.

“Major General OI Uzamere has been promoted from Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics to Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre and named Commander; Major-General OF Azinta has been promoted from Defence Headquarters to Army Headquarters Department of Army Training and named Chief of Training; Major-General JB Olawumi has been promoted from Defence Headquarters to Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics and named Chief of Defence Logistics.

“Similarly, Major General KI Mukhtar from the Nigerian Army Depot was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry; Major General DH Ali-Keffi from the Defence Intelligence Agency was appointed General Officer Commanding of Headquarters 1 Division; and Major General TA Lagbaja from the Army Headquarters Department of Training and Operations was appointed General Officer Commanding of Headquarters 82 Division.
