As at March 10, 2018 a total of 196 students had been accepted into the Maritime University
to commence their academic programmes, while 76 applications were still pending.
Similarly, an additional N1B was approved by the President to support essential infrastructure works and staff recruitment in the Maritime University in November 2017.

The NUC had approved , that academic activities commence in 3 faculties namely; Transport, Engineering & Environmental Mgt, with a combined total of 13 Depts with various specializations – from Marine Engineering, Marine Economics to Climate Change, Fisheries and Aquaculture.
