Terrorists attacked Ukuru village in the Bobi community of the Mariga local government area of Niger State, killing a large number of people.
Terrorists on motorcycles wielding AK-47 rifles stormed the neighborhood.
According to reports, the terrorists attacked the Ukuru market, forcing traders and customers to flee as gunshots rang out.
They then invaded the residential area, killing anyone they came across and setting fire to houses.
Mohammed Sani Idris, the Niger Commissioner for Information, confirmed the attack, but did not specify who was killed.
He also claimed that the terrorists set fire to a number of homes and vehicles.
Terrorists who attacked the community, according to Idris, were fleeing military operations in Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto states.
“The terrorists don’t want to kidnap a large number of people because it will make it difficult for them to flee,” he explained.
He did, however, reiterate the government’s determination to put a stop to the terrorists’ activities in the state.
