On Friday, a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta sentenced Seun Sowemimo, 33, to 12 months in prison without the possibility of a punishment for making attempts to steal from Obasanjo, ex president of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Sowemimo, whose address was not given, admitted to the two counts of theft and creating a breach of the peace.

Mrs. Olajumoke Somefun, the Magistrate, stated that the prosecution had proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty of the charges.
Sowemimo scaled the fence into Obasanjo’s compound in Abeokuta on April 1 with the aim to steal, according to prosecuting ASP Olakunle Shonibare.

He claimed that he was quickly apprehended by one of the security guards on duty.
He claimed that the crime was against Ogun’s Criminal Code Laws of 2006.
