Man brutally assaults his wife, breaks her lower jaw, damages her left eye in Adamawa state
Zakaria Waye, a father of five, was charged with allegedly assaulting his wife, Ruth Zakaria, in Chief Magistrate Court 4 in Yola, Adamawa State.

According to reports, during a quarrel on Wednesday, August 25, the accused from Girei town in Adamawa’s Girei Local Government Area allegedly broke his wife’s lower jaw and damaged her left eye.
Ruth, the victim, was unable to speak when she appeared in court on Thursday, August 26 after undergoing surgery to stitch and wire her broken jaw.
Zakaria was also alleged to have beaten his wife on a regular basis, sometimes in front of their children, whenever the two had a disagreement.
Zakaria, on the other hand, has pleaded not guilty to charges including causing grievous bodily harm.
He told the court that his wife was to blame for the family’s problems, claiming that she had his private parts and that he had to beat her because of it.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Abdulrazak Adamu, ordered that the accused be remanded in custody at Yola Correctional Centre and that the case be heard on November 22, 2021.
