Afam Mallinson Ukatu was born in Onitsha, Anambra State, on May 8, 1964, and is married with five children. He portrays himself as a fearless businessman who is committed to the expansion and diversification of the Nigerian economy.
He graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with a degree in philosophy and an MBA from Crawford University in Ogun State. He has also finished many diploma programs at Lagos Business School in strategic management and entrepreneur management.
He is a member of the Rotary Club International, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), the Certified Institute of Cost Management of Nigeria (CICM), and the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (ISMAN).
Mallinson & Partners Ltd was Ukatu’s first business venture. His ‘entrepreneurial’ mentality propelled him to become a director of a number of businesses, including Cowry Assets and Management, Masters Energy Oil and Gas Limited, Urban Space Services Limited, and Alor Microfinance Bank Limited.
He is the chairman of the Mallinson Group of Companies, which includes pharmaceutical and plastic manufacturing companies. Ukatu has been under the agency’s radar since 2021, and his arrest came after months of surveillance.
