Malami Buwai, the former Minister of Agriculture, has died.
Malami Buwai passed away on Monday in Gusau, Zamfara State, after a long illness.
Governor Bello Matawalle reacted to the news by calling Buwai’s death a “colossal loss” for the state.
Matawalle described the late Buwai as one of the personalities who spearheaded the creation of Zamfara in a tribute issued in Gusau, the state capital, on Monday by Malam Jamilu Birnin-Magaji, the Governor’s Press Secretary.
“I was shocked to learn of the death of Alhaji Malami Buwai, a seasoned farmer, scholar, administrator, and astute elder statesman,” the governor said.
He described the late Buwai as an exceptional philanthropist who was honest and God-fearing.
According to him, the former minister had made significant contributions to Zamfara’s development, particularly in assisting the poor.
Matawalle prayed to Allah to forgive the late minister’s flaws and to give his family the strength to bear the loss.
Under former Head of State Gen. Sani Abacha’s regime, Buwai served as Minister of Agriculture.
