Nigeria leads Group C with two games remaining before the playoffs, but they cannot afford to lose.
On Saturday, the Super Eagles will face the Liberian Lone Star in their matchday 5 match in their bid to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The Super Eagles will look to complete a double over their West African neighbours, who are already out of contention for next year’s Mundial, after defeating the Liberians 2-0 earlier in the qualification series.
Though Nigeria leads Group C with two games remaining before the playoffs, the NFF President Amaju Pinnick and squad captain Ahmed Musa have both stated that they cannot afford a slip against the Lone Star.

Pinnick told the Eagles following their final training session that there will be no room for mistakes if the country wants to qualify for Qatar 2022.
“I’ve seen the training and I’m impressed by the seriousness, fitness, and commitment,” he remarked. The spirit is excellent, and I am confident that you will complete the task tomorrow (Saturday).
“Let’s leave very little room for errors; in fact, let’s leave no room for errors at all.” I don’t think I need to tell you how eager Nigerians from all walks of life are for you to pick up these three ideas.
“The three points are crucial, and we should pack them in our bags for our return flight to Nigeria tomorrow night.”
Musa, who is on the verge of becoming Nigeria’s all-time leading scorer, stated that he and his teammates cannot afford to lose against Liberia.
“We understand how important the game is; we can’t afford to lose.” The three points must be pursued. We want to celebrate another significant victory at the conclusion of the game on Saturday.”
Fatih Karagumruk, a striker with Fatih Karagumruk, also likened the weather in Tangier to their European base.
“I think the weather is great; it’s just like Europe, and I believe most of us enjoy it.” “I’m hoping the weather will cooperate with us,” he remarked.
With a win on Saturday and a loss by Cape Verde against the Central African Republic on the island of Mindelo on Saturday, the Super Eagles will advance to the knockout stage of the qualifying campaign with a game to spare.
Nigeria has nine points, two more than Cape Verde, which means another three points and any kind of blunder by the Blue Sharks will put the Super Eagles in complete control heading into Tuesday’s last encounter.
The Super Eagles are aiming for their sixth World Cup appearance, having qualified for all but one of the tournaments since their debut in 1994 in the United States.
