Nollywood actor, Leo Mezie, is dead
Ejes Gist Newspaper has confirmed that Leonard Chimezie Onyemachi, also known as Leo Mezie, a Nollywood actor who battled kidney disease, died at the age of 46.
According to reports, the actor, who underwent a kidney transplant over four years ago, underwent another last week but developed difficulties and died on Saturday, May 14th.

Chioma Toplis, a Nollywood actress, announced Leo’s death on Instagram on Monday.
Leo has been in and out of the hospital for a long, trying to get back on his feet, according to sources.

“Actor Leo has died,” Chioma wrote. While recovering from a kidney transplant, he died on Saturday in Abuja. His body was returned to his hometown of Umuahia. RIP Leo.”.
When the news of Mezie’s illness became public knowledge, many people accused Nollywood stakeholders of insulting the sensibility of Nigerians for asking people to contribute money for Leo Mezie, when in actual fact, stakeholders in the industry could have easily done so.
