Latest Biafra news Now : Chekwas Okorie explains why Kanu left the APGA to join Radio Biafra.

Chief Chekwas Okorie, a former chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), said on Wednesday that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was forced to join Radio Biafra due to frustrations from those who hijacked the party from him.

Okorie, who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the APGA under Chief Edozie Njoku in Enugu, revealed that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Uche Mefor, and Egemba, among others, were party leaders in exile while he was the national chairman of the party.

Kanu and others quit politics to join Radio Biafra, he said, when he left the party to found the United Progressive Party (UPP) in 2012.

Okorie claimed that he did not abandon APGA, but that he was forced out after several attempts to reconcile both parties were rejected by one party.

Latest Biafra news Now : 80-year-old In DSS custody, ‘Mama Biafra’ develops a heart infection.

80-year-old According to a statement released by IPOB leader’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Mrs Ukamaka Ejezie, also known as Mama Biafra, who is allegedly in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, is currently suffering from a severe heart infection and breathing difficulties.

Ejezie had been acting as Kanu’s mother since his parents died in 2020, according to reports. He was arrested during Kanu’s court appearance in Abuja on May 18.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, Ejiofor learned of the new development during a routine visit to Kanu at the DSS headquarters in Abuja on Monday, and he urged the international community to pressure the federal government to free the elderly woman.

“During this visit, we were reliably informed that Mrs. Ukamaka Ejezie, Onyendu’s 80-year-old adopted mother, who is still held captive by the DSS, is currently suffering from a severe heart infection and is unable to breathe.”

As a result, we are appealing to the international community to pressure the Nigerian government to release the octogenarian Great grandmother, who committed no crime by simply showing up in court to support her adopted son, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, during his last court appearance,” the statement reads in part.

The latest Biafra news today is that  Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has denied Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, bail (IPOB).

Justice Binta Nyako stated in her ruling on Kanu’s bail application that the issue of Kanu’s previous absence, which dates back to 2017, must be resolved before his bail application can be considered.

According to her, Kanu also violated his previous bail conditions, and his current bail application is pending until that is heard.

On Wednesday morning, ahead of the decision on Kanu’s bail application, the federal government filed a six-count amended charge against him.

The prosecution, on the other hand, was chastised by Justice Nyako for filing an amended charge just hours before the decision. She said she didn’t learn about the amended charge until the next morning when she went to court.

She claims that the prosecution will be unable to present the new amended charge to the court on the day of the hearing.

Kanu’s trial had been repeatedly postponed since 2015 due to over 19 interlocutory applications filed in the case, according to the court.

As a result, it pleaded with the parties to allow the case to proceed to trial in order to determine the charge.

In an application filed under sections 6(6) and 36(5) and (6) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, as well as sections 161, 162, 163 and 165 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, 2015, Kanu asked the court to release him on bail pending the outcome of the charge against him.

From DSS Net, Nnamdi Kanu sends a strong message to IPOB members.

Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, revealed in a message to IPOB on Friday that enemies of the Biafra republic struggle were already banding together to put an end to it, and advised his legal team to be strong and not distracted.

After the legal team visited Kanu at the Department of State Services, DSS, detention facility in Abuja last Thursday, Kanu made this statement to newsmen in Owerri through the IPOB’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

The enemies were unhappy, according to the IPOB leader, because they saw the battle ending in a victory for the IPOB.

IPOB accuses the FG and DSS of mistreating Kanu while he is in custody.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said the group was no longer certain of Kanu’s health.

It challenged the Department of State Services to come out and tell the world why Kanu’s family and lawyers were being kept in the dark.

The group also stated that the Federal Government and security agencies should be aware that Kanu, as a political prisoner, should not be treated in any way, and that the only option left was for him to be released unconditionally or face the consequences of his detention for so long.

It warned that if anything bad happened to the IPOB leader, the Federal Government and its security agencies would be held liable for the devastating consequences of such an avoidable situation.

“Our attention has been drawn to the refusal by the DSS in Abuja to allow family members and lawyers to visit our leader, Nnamdi Kanu, during his routine visitation in DSS custody on Monday,” the group stated.

“We also recall that when family members and lawyers went to see our leader last Thursday, the DSS denied them access. On Thursday last week, our legal team went to the DSS office in Abuja, but the DSS refused to let them see our leader. On Monday, they were denied access to our leader once more.

“For the time being, we don’t know how he’s doing or if he’s still alive.” The DSS should come out and tell the world why our leader is being shielded from his family and lawyers. Have they gotten rid of him?

Current  Biafra news now

“We are informing the international community as well as all diplomatic missions in Abuja about the DSS’s provocative actions.” Nobody should hold IPOB responsible for anything because the federal government and its security agencies have already pushed us to our breaking point.”

Nnamdi Kanu’s trial has been adjourned by the court.

The case of Biafra political leader Nnamdi Kanu has been postponed until April 8, 2022 by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The separatist leader’s trial, according to reports, resumed on Wednesday. Kanu is charged with terrorism, treason, provocation, and managing a criminal organisation, among other things. Biafra News Today  : I can’t release Nnamdi Kanu; Buhari says, as he snubs Igbo leaders

“We want to declare that the Nigerian government and security agencies will have no peace of mind unless our leader is released,” IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, said in a statement released on January 5.

However, the group warned that people in the Southeast geopolitical zone, which it prefers to refer to as “Biafra land,” would face difficulties. Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo are the five states that make up the zone.

“Fulani cows will be prohibited in Biafra land beginning April 2022,” according to the statement. “Those in the animal husbandry industry must switch to our native cow as soon as possible.”

“In regards to stopping the Nigerian national anthem in our schools, we want every school to begin reading the Biafra national anthem,” the group added. The Biafra national anthem will soon be distributed to every school.”

IPOB drew attention in October 2021 with a statement outlining its plan to regulate the cattle industry and cow meat consumption in the Southeast.

Mazi Chika Edoziem, the head of the Directorate of State (DOS), had announced a ban on the rearing and c0onsumption of “Fulani cows” in Southeast states, stating that the ban would take effect six months after the announcement.

“From that date forward, no more Fulani cows shall be allowed into Biafra land for any reason, not for burials, title taking, weddings, or any other reason,” he says. He went on to say that only cows bred in the territory would be “consumed and used for all ceremonies in Biafra land” from then on.

The group has now demonstrated that it meant what it said by announcing that the cow ban will go into effect in April, roughly six months after the initial announcement.

The group’s plans for enforcing the cow and anthem bans in the five states are unclear. It already has a poor track record of enforcing its bad ideas.

IPOB’s ban could be enforced by authorities similar to those who disrupted the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in many parts of the Southeast in September 2021 as a result of the group’s illegal sit-at-home order. The snarl was unforgivable.

IPOB, ironically, continues to deny being labeled a terrorist organization while speaking and acting in a terroristic manner.
