Release detained “Biafran youths” or face our wrath – IPOB threatens Southeast Governors
IPOB, the Indigenous People of Biafra, called on Southeast governors on Sunday to release all “Biafran youths” detained in the area.
IPOB warned that if the governors of the Southeast do not ensure the release of these youths, they will face the wrath of the people of the region.
The separatist group’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, issued the warning while criticising the detention of innocent teenagers and labelling them as ESN operatives.
The Southeast continues to be plagued by murders, kidnappings, and property devastation, according to the powerful.
“We, the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU, wish to reiterate once again to place the world on notice over the incessant abductions, killings, arrests, and burning down of properties worth billions of Naira in Biafraland by the compromised Nigeria security agents operating in Biafraland by the compromised Nigeria security agents operating in Biafraland by the compromised Nigeria
“They have continued to arrest innocent Biafrans, tagging them as ESN and IPOB members, only to hang them while the true mass murderers – Fulani bandits – roam the streets freely.” We strongly condemn the arrest of a woman in Obowo, Imo State, who is expected to marry in December. What heinousness to put a bride-to-be in custody for no other reason than that she is a Biafran! Is it possible to do this to a Fulani? Our political elite, on the other hand, sees nothing wrong with this!
“We’re wondering if the governors of the South East still have any semblance of shame in them?” How can they claim to be governors when the Fulani are incarcerating their youths, killing others, and burning down homes worth billions of dollars with impunity while they sit by and do nothing?
“If these governors fail to secure the immediate release of all innocent Biafran youths illegally detained by the hypocritical NIGERIA security agencies in their States, they should expect the wrath of the people.” We also condemn several attacks in villages in the Imo and Anambra states’ Orsu, Orlu, Obowo, and Ihiala LGAs.”
The separatist movement called religious and traditional authorities to summon Southeast governors and persuade them to release detained teenagers.
“We are allowing religious leaders and traditional rulers to call them to order before things get out of hand,” he said, “because IPOB will not continue to let them get away with it unless they release those arrested in their various states.”
Biafra: IPOB are troublemakers seeking Buhari govt’s attention – Lawal Usman
Lawal Usman, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, has labelled the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as troublemakers seeking the attention of the federal government.
According to Usman, the South-East region’s leaders have not backed IPOB’s campaign.
The PDP leader made the comment while dismissing the pro-Biafra movement’s call for secession.
He dismissed IPOB’s movement as a joke in an interview with Nigeria’s News Agency, NAN.
“We have Igbo people living and doing business in every part of the country,” he explained. Are you implying that these people are willing to abandon their businesses and fortunes in Nigeria and return home empty-handed?
“The whole IPOB thing is a joke; all they want is attention from the federal government.”
“I don’t take them seriously; if it were up to me, they wouldn’t last more than a week, especially if the government takes them seriously.”
“There are wonderful people in the South East who believe in Nigeria’s unity. IPOB, in my opinion, is made up of troublemakers who are making a racket in order to get the attention of the government.
“They are young men who have no knowledge of the country’s history, particularly the Civil War; I believe they should be educated on the country’s history because they are acting in a blind manner.”
He charged the outfit with soliciting foreign funds from Nigeria’s adversaries.
IPOB has recently been at the forefront of the campaign for Nigeria’s disintegration and the establishment of Biafra.
As a result, IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested and charged with terrorism.
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have given Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma till the end of November to release all detained IPOB members.
