Kidnapped Kaduna Rector, Amos Magbon, has Regained Freedom
Amos Magbon, the rector of the Federal School of Statistics in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State, and a student, age 21, were kidnapped by armed robbers who later freed them after receiving a ransom.
After being imprisoned for 48 hours, the victims were released on Thursday, August 4.
Remember that on Tuesday, bandits broke into the neighbourhood, killed Daniel Dabo Yatai, the 86-year-old father of a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, and kidnapped his niece Brenda Friday, 21.
The two were released on Thursday night after paying a ransom, according to resident Victor Galadima, who confirmed the incident.
He claimed that N150,000 was paid to secure Brenda Friday’s release, while N1,000,000 was paid to secure the release of the rector.
According to Galadima, “Since her grandfather was shot dead, they decided to release the lady after N150,000 was paid to the bandits while a sum of N1 million was paid to secure the release of the rector.”
One of the victims, he said, claimed that the bandits took them to the Zangang community in Takad Chiefdom, which is only a few kilometres from the local government area. The victim claimed that the bandits were young Fulani boys.
According to a different source, the pair underwent a medical examination to make sure they were in good health.
He urged the government to send out security personnel and make sure they are stationed in the region to prevent similar incidents in the future.
