Abducted Jonathan’s cousin has regained freedom

The kidnappers have released Jephthah Robert, the cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was kidnapped on January 24.

Robert was kidnapped in front of his home in the Biogbolo-Epie suburb of Yenagoa, the state capital, and held captive for 14 days.

In a statement released on Monday, Austin Ekeinde, a media aide to the victim’s younger brother, Azibaola Robert, confirmed his release.

“We give all thanks to God for our brother Jephthah Robert Yekorogha’s safe return from the kidnappers’ den,” he said.

Meanwhile, the family has refused to give details on how much was paid as ransom, but an unconfirmed source said over 20 million ransom was paid to the abductors.
