Brother of Slain Catholic priest, Vitus Borogo Regains Freedom

After 45 days in captivity, the kidnapped younger brother of the Catholic priest Reverend Father Vitus Borogo—who was killed by bandits—has reclaimed his freedom.

Recall that on Saturday, June 25, a 50-year-old priest was brutally murdered at the Nigerian Prison Farm in Kujama in the state’s Chikun Local Government Area.

During the attack, the bandits also kidnapped Cyril Youguhime Borogo, his brother, and demanded a sizable ransom.

It was learned that money was raised for his release from friends, coworkers, former classmates, and members of their community.

Priscilla Mamnenge Balogun Jerome, the deceased priest’s sister and fund-raiser, confirmed that her brother had been freed.

Philip Aanger, a Tiv group spokesperson who recently visited the mother of the murdered priest, reported that Cyril is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital.
