Deputy Chief of Staff to Kaduna state Governor.Barrister James Kanyip


The government has expressed commitment to involved more women into the political space towards promoting socio-economic and political development of the state


, Stated this during the 4th Edition of Tangwat Youths Association public Lectures in Kaduna


The Deputy Chief of Staff who was also the keynote speaker at the event explained that the theme of the annual lectures:Bridging the Gender Gap towards greater participation of women in the development of southern Kaduna was apt and timely

Barr.Kanyip said the current administration in the state under the leadership of governor Nasiru Elrufai has set the pace by choosing a woman in person of Dr.Hadiza Balarabe as the first democratically elected deputy Governor of Kaduna state saying it is a landmark achievement that needs to be encouraged


He called on women in the state to actively participate in the political activities of the state adding that the current administration is determined to be gender sensitive in the area of appointment cut across all zones of the state


In her response,guess speaker at the event Prof.Hauwa’u Evelyn Yusuf regretted the wide range of gender gap between women and their male counterparts in the political space


The university Don explained that to bridge the gender gap between men and women requires strong capacity building for women in the areas of education and entrepreneurship with the view to making them relevant in the political space



The gender activist pointed out that there are women who have done  excellently  in time past and stressed the need for women in the state to be given equal treatment, access to resources as well as value reorientation for them to feel equal and stand out in all their endeavors



Another guess speaker and member,Kaduna state House of Assembly Dr.Yusufu Mugu pointed out that women need to be willing to contribute to the political development of the state by performing their franchise right



He added that equality between the two opposing gender cannot be ascertain anytime soon due factors including:culture,religion,education and economics



The fouth annual public lectures was organized by Tangwat youths Association in Southern Kaduna with the view to creating awareness on the need for more women involvement in governance to promote sustainable development in the state
