Zamfara Govt announces total ‘lockdown’ in 3 LGAs
Ejes Gist Newspaper reports that Following a rise in bandit attacks on communities, the Zamfara Government on Friday declared a complete lockdown in the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi.
In a statement released on Friday in Gusau, the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, announced the lockdown.

To curb the recent wave of attacks on these communities in the impacted areas, the government declares a lockdown in nine major towns.
Towns like Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko, and Mada fall within this category.
Along with Colony to Lambar Boko Road, Bakura to Lambar Damri Road, and Mayanchi-Daki Takwas to Gummi Road, the government also declared the closure of markets in Danjibga and Bagega.
“Other roads include the Gusau to Magami Road, Kucheri-Bawaganga-Wanke Road, Magami to Dangulbi Road, and Daki Takwas to Zuru Road.
The government stated that the actions were made to enable security personnel in their efforts to drive out criminal elements from particular locations.
In order to show his government’s care and sympathy for the impacted people and towns, Governor Bello Matawalle has ordered the immediate suspension of all APC meetings and activities.

“Stakeholders are hereby advised to wait for a fresh date for the Friday APC Stakeholders’ Meeting.
“Additionally, the state’s government has halted all political activity until further notice.
Political gatherings and meetings at private dwellings are also prohibited, according to Dosara.

The state government claimed that the choice was made impartially and with the intention of stopping the crisis before it got out of hand.
“The resurgence of banditry activities and the recent killings of some innocent persons in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun, and Kaura Namoda local government areas sadden and worry the authorities.
The murders of some of our valiant security personnel who gave their lives in our protection have an impact on the government as well.
Therefore, the government expressed its condolences to the families of the victims of the bandit attacks and prayed for their souls to rest in peace.
Security personnel were instructed by the state administration to deal with anyone found disobeying the rules.
