John Olusegun Odubela , Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is Dead .
He died at 55 years old.
Following an illness, Odubela, a partner and Head of Chambers at Rickey Tarfa & Co, died in the late hours of Monday.
Between 2011 and 2015, Odubela served as the Ogun Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology in Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s administration.
Mr Olusegun O. Jolaawo SAN, Partner and Deputy Head of Chambers at Rickey Tarfa & Co, issued a statement this morning announcing his death.
“We regret to announce the death of our dear Partner, Colleague, Friend, and Head of Chambers Mr John Olusegun Odubela SAN, who passed away in the late hours of Monday 15th March 2021 after a brief illness,” the statement reads.
“His family will make the arrangements for his burial.”
“May the gentle soul of his gentle soul rest in peace, Amen.”
Odubela graduated from Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, with a degree in law in 1989.
In 1990, he graduated from law school and was admitted to the bar.
During his National Youth Service Corps program in the former Gongola State, he joined Rickey Tarfa & Co, and I joined Rickey Tarfa & Co, rising to become a partner in the company.
He recounted his experiences in Lagos driving a kombi bus (commercial minibus) or working as a bus conductor in a 2015 interview with The Nation.
“Coming from a modest family, mine has been a mixture of memories,” he said. My friend and I once went on an adventure.
‘’His mother gave us a Kombi bus, and we traveled from Obalende to Ogba in it (both in Lagos). I’d be the conductor when he was the conductor, and the conductor when he was the conductor. That is something I recall vividly.”
